Imagining the future.

Thursday, 10th October 2019, 6:00 pm

Francesco Marconi is the protagonist of the second appointment of this year with the cycle of conferences promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo and named Imagining the future. Conversations about the great changes and challenges of tomorrow. On Thursday 10 October at 6.00pm the event having as subject A journey in the future of storytelling: understanding how to communicate in the age of artificial intelligence will take place in the Auditorium of the skyscraper.

Will the use of artificial intelligence (AI), algorithms and intelligent machines be the end of traditional journalism, storytelling and communication or will it save them? Francesco Marconi, who opened the way to the development and use of AI for Associated Press and Wall Street Journal, presents a new perspective on the potential of these technologies, analysing the challenges and chances offered by the use of artificial intelligence, proposing fascinating cases, research and challenging ideas. His message is that AI, if used correctly, can increase – and not automate – the sector, allowing individuals from all fields to engage in more in-depth analysis and creative reflection.

Francesco Marconi, 33, is Research and Development Manager at Wall Street Journal, affiliated researcher at MIT Media Lab and a Fellow at Columbia University’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism. An expert in technology, automation and artificial intelligence, in 2017 Francesco was recognized by MediaShift as one of the top 20 innovators in digital media, appointed by Editor & Publisher Magazine as one of the 25 leading publishers under 35 years of age, and is a finalist at the Digiday Future Leader Awards. At WSJ, he leads a team of engineers who are experts in machine learning along with data scientists and journalists.

The conference, lasting about 50 minutes, will be held in English with simultaneous translation.

The event is free but advanced reservation is required and available on this website from next Friday, 4 October.

Imagining the future, a project conceived by Giulia Cogoli Comunicazione for Intesa Sanpaolo, is part of the strategic program of activities carried out in the skyscraper, four years after its opening.
